Gwenllian Spink

How to Make a Kite

Gwenllian views kites as sculptures of the sky, as well as storytellers of the open air. They exist beyond the confines of a gallery space, giving anyone the opportunity to interpret them as they will, weaving their own stories as the kite weaves in the wind.
Kite-making is a reflection on your surroundings; it’s a contemplative activity that engages with your landscape in a distinct way. Throughout these current periods of isolation, kite-making is a continuous link with the outside world, whilst kite-flying instigates a relationship between you and the open sky. These activities are an amalgamation of all three elements of the theme: looking in, looking out, looking up.
